It is no secret that the Byrd Yellow Jackets are a really young team this year. The Yellow Jackets have one returning starter from last years squad. The Byrd defense looked lost with St. Thomas More offense, who were playing without a handful of starting key players. The Cougars did a great job of running the football to open up the field for their passing game behind Nate Cox, 6'8" Senior quarterback for St. Thomas More.

The Byrd Yellow Jackets offense, which is known for its run heavy and wing-T formation style, could not get things rolling against the Cougar defense. The Jackets lost two crucial fumbles in the game, one in the first half and one in the second half. STM would take those turnovers and turn it into a quick score both times. Coach Suggs will have to make sure this group of kids do not lose their motivation because Byrd has a tradition in hard nose football and having school spirit in "The Hive" which can get any team ready to go against anyone with knowing they have incredible support.

Byrd's next game is at home (Lee Hedges Stadium) against Calvary Baptist Academy at 7 p.m. Listen to it live on 1130 AM The Tiger.
