A man has been shot after what Shreveport police say was a robbery at a local business.

Corporal Marcus Hines told KEEL News that based on the information he has so far from detectives, a man walked into a business in the 4200 block of Pro Street just before 1 p.m. and asked to use the restroom. The owner obliged, but before the man left, he pointed a gun at the owner and robbed him of his wallet.

What the suspect didn't know was the store owner was also armed. When he pulled his weapon, the suspect fired his own. The store owner returned fire, hitting the suspect once or possibly twice.

The suspect was taken to University Health, and is expected to survive. He's expected to face an armed robbery charge once he's released. Detectives are working to confirm his identity.
