ORIGINAL STORY (May 16, 2016):  Disciplinary action has been taken against three Bossier City police officers following an internal affairs investigation into an April 10 incident involving a Bossier Parish police jury member.

Police Juror Rick Avery was pulled over by officers on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, but wasn't booked into the Bossier City Jail, per departmental policy. Police Chief Shane McWilliams ordered an investigation by Internal Affairs into how the officers involved handled the incident.

It was determined that officers failed to follow proper policy and procedure. One officer resigned from the department, a second was terminated and a third received a 3-day suspension from duty without pay.

Because of the department's policy regarding personnel matters, details of the investigation, including the names of the officers, aren't being released.
