Santa Claus and the hundreds of folks riding on floats attracted a large crowd to Benton on Saturday for the Annual Christmas Parade.

It's part of the Christmas on the Square festival in the north Bossier Parish town which continues to grow every year. The riders on the floats were throwing candy, beads, cups, moon pies and several other specialty items.

For many years, Robert and I have been lucky to be invited to be the Celebrity Grand Marshalls for the event and again this year we were thrilled to be a part. Mother Nature was the queen of the day as the parade rolled at 3pm with a temperature of about 60 degrees with a bright sunshine. It was magnificent.

This year, my oldest son and his girlfriend got to take part. My son has one of those big monster trucks and he was our driver this year. They had a blast being a part of this community event. I'm excited to know that we have already been invited back for next year. We'll be there.
