According to a new study by WalletHub, Baton Rouge doesn't fair very well as an example of a good capital city! I don't know about you, but in 8th grade, I learned all about the great state of Louisiana, it's 64 parishes and yes, our state capital, Baton Rouge. I've always been fond of 'Red Stick,' mainly because it's the home of the LSU Tigers, but when you get down to it, it's not all it's cracked up to be. With only three bridges spanning the mighty Mississippi River, traffic can be a nightmare!

I'm not sure if WalletHub took traffic and infrastructure into consideration, but they did study quality of life, education, the economy and cost of living. With that being said, Baton Rouge landed in the 42nd spot, yes the bottom 20%, out of all the state capitals in the country.

One of the biggest factors landing Baton Rouge on the naughty list was our high premature death rate where we rank 48th in the country which contributed to our overall Education and Health ranking of 45. We didn't do so hot when it came to quality of life, our economy or affordability either.

While I know we're in the midst of an budget crisis in Louisiana and that property values in Baton Rouge tend to be higher than in our neck of the woods, I firmly believe access to our LSU Fighting Tigers has to count for something! What do you think about the results of the study? What can we do to increase our standing?
