Apart from myriad new additions to Season 5, Arrow hasn’t given us the clearest picture of its next chapter, at least in the manner Flash has. That said, Stephen Amell reveals that the Green Arrow will be sporting some new duds in Season 5, as well the appearance of a familiar face and “the most vicious, violent one-er shot in the history of network television.”

Amell answered a few Facebook questions at the top of his impending 21-day workout, noting that Arrow Season 5 would require him just a tad more chiseled than usual. Having read the (as-yet-unnamed) script for episode 501, Amell recalled insisting on performing the aforementioned one-shot sequence himself, for which director/stunt coordinator James Bamford (who also directs 502) said “fine, but you’ve got to do it shirtless.”

Added Amell:

But if episode 501 is any indication, Arrow’s gonna be fuckin’ mean this year. Pardon my language.

Among other details gleamed from Amell’s workout session, the once and future Oliver Queen noted that Season 5 would have a newer, “slightly-modified” version of the suit seen in Season 4, while the actor only offered “no comment” to questions of any Legends of Tomorrow cast members appearing. The Season 5 premiere will host someone not seen on the series for two seasons, while Amell put for “legacy” as a one-word description for the episode.

In addition to The Wire star Chad Coleman taking the role of new baddie Tobias Church, wayward vigilantism appears to be a major theme for Arrow Season 5, following the return of Madison McLaughlin as a new Artemis, as well additions of Rick Gonzalez’s Wild Dog, and Josh Segarra’s “Vigilante.”

Elsewhere of Season 5, we know Stephen Amell has also downplayed the likelihood of The Flash’s time-turning twist affecting any Arrow chronology, while we’ll also have Echo Kellum elevated to series regular as Curtis Holt, and Colton Haynes reportedly returning as Roy Harper for a number of episodes.

We’ll likely hear more of Arrow Season 5 on the road to Comic-Con 2016, but what epic action sequence might the premiere entail?
