Andy Griffith: Today’s KWKH Legend of the Day

Who hasn't watched Andy Taylor teach his small boy, Opie, about the lessons of life in Mayberry?  Or,  watched him in a hilarious agitated argument with the goofy, but loveable deputy, Barney Fife? Andy Griffith is the stuff of which legends are made.

Actor, director, producer, Grammy-award winning Gospel singer, and writer, he's done it all,  and in such a memorable way that generations know him as a household name.

From 1960-1968,  he starred in The Andy Griffith Show. You may have seen him more recently as an attorney in the TV drama Matlock from 1986-1992.

All of his characters were folksy and homespun, which may be why he is so beloved by the masses.  Interesting that he was a graduate of the University of  North Carolina, and that's the state where his most popular series was set in the ficticious  town of  Mayberry.

Andy Griffith is 85 years young and going strong!
