A gas line break turned dangerous for fire crews last night after a flash fire was ignited at Line and Dudley.

According to a press release from the Shreveport Fire Department:

The Shreveport Fire Department was called to Line Ave and Ockley Drive at 7:27 p.m. for a strong smell of natural gas in the area. Crews arrived on scene at 7:30 p.m. and requested Center Point Energy respond to the area of Line Ave. and Dudley. Shreveport Police assisted in blocking several streets while Center Point located the leak.

At 9:08 p.m. Center Point crews were digging at the intersection of Line Ave. and Dudley when the gas ignited in a flash fire. Additional fire crews were requested to contain the fire and protect surrounding property.

The cause of the flash fire is unknown at this time.
