Give for Good was a major success this year, thanks to your donations.

This year marked the third year for Shreveport's Give for Good Day. It's 24 full hours of donating to local charities throughout the area. This year, it turned into 48 hours of giving due to a technological glitch in the system. You know, too much good happening online for the internet to handle.

Despite the issue, our community raised more than $1.76 million.

That money was donated to 180 local nonprofits who had registered to be a part of the campaign. More than 40 of those charities hosted events throughout the community to aid in fundraising. This number far exceeds that of 2015 which was right around $1 million.

Give for Good is put on by the Community Foundation. Executive Director Paula Hickman had this to say about this year's donations:

“While the day did not proceed as expected, it was a great success thanks to the determination, creativity and good spirits of all who participated in Give for Good Day. I am so proud of our community. What a great place to live!”

The donations received throughout the day were amplified by a Lagniappe Fund of about $240,000. This money is put up by The Community Foundation and other corporate donor.

Who's ready for next year?
